My Story – Julieanne

JULIEANNE GOUGH // BRUMBY’S OWNER/OPERATOR GRACEMERE

“I have been working for Brumby’s for 21 years – it was my first ever job. I started icing cakes and then moved onto managing five stores, I then opened my first store in Allenstown in 2013. We have in excess of 30 local team members across all three of our stores. We also donate all leftover bread to St Vincent’s and local Rockhampton schools to use at their breakfast clubs.

How long have you owned your store?

I’ve been working with Brumby’s Bakery for 21 years – it was my first ever job. I started icing cakes and then moved onto managing five stores. We opened our very own store in Allenstown in 2013.

Why did you decide to open a Brumby’s?

The Brumby’s Bakery franchise partner that I worked for was retiring and I had an opportunity to purchase the store so I decided that I would give it a go!

Why should your local community support you?

The local community should support us because we have lived in the area for 21 years, we support the community, and employ more than 30 locals across all three stores. We also donate all leftover bread to St Vincent’s and local Rockhampton schools to use at their breakfast clubs.

Tell us something about you?

I just like to have a go, if you think you want to do something… then make it happen.

How is your family involved with your store?

My husband and I run the store and see it as an opportunity to meet some wonderful people, be a positive influence in other people’s lives, and give an opportunity to those who wouldn’t usually get one.
